This project involved the conversion of an existing unoccupied industrial factory and warehouse unit to provide an interim start-up primary school with external site works including playground, landscaped garden and car parking. The works required the full strip out and demolition of the existing mezzanine floor, internal ceilings, walls and removal of sections of reinforced concrete floor and wall structure. On completion of the demolition works was a total reforming of a new internal ground and first floor room layout with existing double height ceiling space along with new window openings. The fit-out included new metal stud, glazed partitions, new floor finishes, wall and ceiling finishes and new mechanical and electrical installations to all areas.
The conversion created 6 nr. classrooms and ancillary spaces, including staff and wash room facilities. Associated works also included the upgrade and redesign of the building entrance to allow safe access and egress to the school. The works were carried out on the building while the school children were housed in prefab buildings on the grounds of the site.
